Ladies' and junior gloves are sized on the length of the hand, and each brand starts the tape in a different place. FootJoy's junior gloves measure from the base of the palm to the tip of the middle finger. Asher's ladies' and junior gloves measure from the wrist. Measure the way the brand does, then find the matching row below. Looking for men's sizes? See the men's golf glove size chart.

FootJoy lists a range for each size. Asher lists a single length for each size. Neither brand prints an age range, so go by the measurement, not the birthday.

MeasureHow to measure
Use the hand that wears the glove: the left hand for a right-handed golfer, the right hand for a left-handed golfer. Hold the hand flat with the fingers together, and measure along the middle finger in inches.
FootJoy junior. Measure from the base of the palm to the tip of the middle finger.
Asher ladies' and junior. Measure from the wrist to the tip of the middle finger. Start the tape at the crease where the hand meets the forearm.
FootJoy women's. FootJoy sizes its women's gloves on two measurements: the length of the middle finger and the circumference of the hand around the first knuckle, thumb excluded. FootJoy supplies a printable sizing guide that turns those two numbers into a size, so use that guide for the women's fit.
In BetweenWhen you land between sizes
FootJoy junior sizes share their edges. The top of S is 6.25 and the bottom of M is 6.25, so a hand that measures exactly 6.25 is listed in both. The same goes for 6.50 and 6.75. A child who is still growing has more use from the larger of the two.
Asher lists one length per size. A junior hand at 6.1 inches sits between Small at 6 and Medium at 6.25, and the table does not say which way to go. Try both if you can, or buy from a seller with an easy exchange.
Short fingers. If a glove fits the palm but the fingertips bunch, the cut may be the issue and not the size. See cadet vs regular golf gloves.
Watch forCommon mistakes
Measuring from the wrong starting point. A palm-to-fingertip length is shorter than a wrist-to-fingertip length for the same hand. Put a palm number against the Asher table, or a wrist number against the FootJoy table, and you will pick the wrong size.
Sizing by age. These brands size on hand length. Two children of the same age can need different sizes.
Carrying a size from one brand to another. A Medium from FootJoy covers 6.25 to 6.50 inches from the palm. An Asher junior Medium is listed at 6.25 inches from the wrist. They are different measurements, so read each brand's own table.
Measuring the wrong hand. Measure the gloved hand, not the bare one.
Mixing units. Every figure on this page is in inches. Convert a centimeter reading before you look anything up.
FAQQuick answers
What golf glove size does a junior need?
It depends on hand length, not age. For FootJoy junior, measure from the base of the palm to the tip of the middle finger: S is 6 to 6.25 inches, M is 6.25 to 6.50, L is 6.50 to 6.75 and XL is 6.75 to 7. For Asher junior, measure from the wrist and match one of five lengths, from X-Small at 5.75 inches to X-Large at 6.75.
How do I measure for a women's golf glove?
Asher's ladies' gloves go by length from the wrist to the tip of the middle finger: Small is 7.25 inches, Medium is 7.5 and Large is 7.75. FootJoy's women's gloves use the length of the middle finger plus the circumference around the first knuckle, thumb excluded, matched on FootJoy's sizing guide.
Which hand do I measure?
The hand that wears the glove. That is the left hand for a right-handed golfer and the right hand for a left-handed golfer.
My child is between two sizes. Which one do I buy?
At FootJoy, a length of exactly 6.25, 6.50 or 6.75 inches is the edge of two sizes, and the larger one gives a growing hand more time in the glove. At Asher the table lists single lengths, so a measurement between two of them is a judgment call. Try both if you can.
Is a women's Small the same as a junior Large?
No. Asher lists its ladies' Small at 7.25 inches and its junior X-Large at 6.75, and its junior Large at 6.5. FootJoy's junior sizes are measured from the base of the palm, so they do not line up with a wrist measurement at all.
Where are the men's glove sizes?
On the men's golf glove size chart, which compares four brands and has its own finder.
